Hotel Astoria

DGI-byen took over the historic Hotel Astoria in February 2007 and after a complete renovation, Copenhagen’s newest design hotel opened in June 2007. The Danish design company GUBI created the hotel’s exciting interior design. GUBI also created furniture for the Museum of Modern Art in New York and for DANHOSTEL Copenhagen City. The style at the hotel is low-key luxury with lots of specially designed furniture and light, elegant materials in all the rooms and lobby. The colour scheme is black and white with deep purple contrast colours.

Hotel Astoria is an architectural pearl in the heart of Copenhagen. When restoring the hotel, the aim was to preserve the soul of the building and keep some of its original look such as the original entrance with its revolving doors which were the very first in Denmark. A historical room from 1935 has also been preserved and dates back to the time when Hotel Astoria opened as the first luxury hotel in Copenhagen.

Tivoli and all of Copenhagen’s wonderful sights, cultural experiences, and shopping are waiting just outside the hotel door. The beautiful exhibition venue Øksnehallen and the lively café life of the Vesterbro district are just a few minutes away and you can walk to DGI-byen in less than five minutes.

Entry to the Swim Centre and the Gym in DGI-byen is free for all hotel guests and the Spa costs only DKK 100 (normal entry DKK 195).
